Helping hands working together to give hope to girls who have been rescued from sexual abuse and exploitation:

A testimonial of how the End OSEC project supports the needs of the rescued victim

First Love International Ministries, Philippines Inc., (First Love Philippines) envisions giving hope to girls who have been rescued from sexual abuse and exploitation. Through the Butterfly Project, the organization continues to provide quality care for the survivors of abuse and exploitation which includes Online Sexual Exploitation of Children. Currently, First Love Philippines caters to 16 survivors, ages (from) five (5) to fifteen (15) years old. They are provided with all their needs including access to quality education via homeschooling in partnership with a private school.

Philippine Children’s Ministries Network, Inc. (PCMN), is one of the shelter’s partners in advocating to end Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) and provides technical and financial support to help survivors who have been placed in shelters. The advocacy on the anti-OSEC campaign enables child rights organizations like PCMN to provide support to survivors via financial assistance.

“First Love Philippines is very grateful for the partnership (with End OSEC Consortium) as this helps us provide the needs of the girls including the 24/7 care.” First Love Philippines Assistant Director, Ms. Mary Ann Ablaza-Nerval, RSW, MPA, said as she mentioned that basic physiological needs, toiletries, dental, medical, recreational services and educational support are being covered under the partnership with the End OSEC Consortium.

Currently, the End OSEC project is able to support eight (8) girls. “It is a big help for us to ensure that they are well provided with their needs and address the traumatic experiences that they have through the multidisciplinary team (Social workers, therapist, nurse, counselor, caregivers, teachers) of First Love,” Ms. Ablaza-Nerval added. First Love Philippines envisions helping girls find new life in Jesus by restoring survivors one girl at a time.

First Love Philippines is one of the partner shelters under the End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (End OSEC) project and is a duly registered and licensed child-caring agency by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that caters to the children who have been victims of neglect, abandonment, and abuse. The institution’s primary goal is to highly ensure the protection and safety of the children with the love and care of a family environment while the respective cases of the kids are in the process of preparation for possible reunification to supportive and deserving biological family or immediate relatives, and/or placing the child to permanent family though legal adoption.

The European Union funds the End OSEC project and is under the implementation of the End OSEC Consortium which consists of Viva Denmark Philippine Children's Ministries Network, and International Justice Mission Philippines.#
